To many people, a boat is a massive investment. This investment spends the majority of its life unattended in a hostile environment. Stern glands and skin fittings can fail. Security is often poor and the boat is packed full of goodies just waiting to be picked up. Batteries discharge, leaving you facing a bill of hundreds of pounds and your precious weekend ruined. Even in a marina, your investment is at risk.
Beaumaris-based Marine Electrical can now supply and install the C-pod boat management system which monitors a number of crucial aspects of your boat and sends a text message and email when things go wrong. With many owners living several hours drive away, Marine Electrical can react to alerts - saving you from possible disaster.
C-pod provides peace of mind by giving the boat owner direct access to their boat via a web portal or a mobile phone. In addition alarms are sent either as an SMS message or as an e-mail and are also visible on the web portal so that the end-user can enter telephone numbers that are relevant for each situation.
Key Features of the C-pod system
Alarms
The C-pod unit is delivered with one magnetic sensor for intrusion alarm as standard, with the option to have up to 12 sensors organised in two different alarm sections. The GeoFence alarm is triggered when the position of the built-in GPS receiver has changed more than 250m from the current position when the alarm is activated. If the C-pod unit detects that the external power supply has been disconnected a battery disconnect alarm will be triggered. When a theft-attempt alarm has been triggered, positions are sent regularly to the C-pod server until the alarm has been reset. Water level sensors and smoke detectors can also be fitted to warn of rising bilge water or fire.
Alerts
When the boat battery level drops below a user configurable level a low battery warning is sent. The C-pod also sends 'heartbeats' at regular intervals - these confirm that the system is working properly. When a heartbeat has not been received as expected, a communication monitor warning is triggered.
Tracking data is stored on the C-pod server and available to the end user, or guest accounts, as a map with route and way-point.
